Mid-Summer Updates: What’s New in July?


While sales might drop during Summer, you can use that time of the year to take a look at your backlog and focus on some long-neglected work. See what kind of optimization your e-commerce platform needs and get into action.

If you know where to look, then just a few small tweaks can mean a 50% lift in sales (or even more).


The small tweaks is one of the things Gameball never underestimates. This month, Gameball’s updates include some highly requested adjustments by our users and enhancements of the overall user experience with emails.

So what’s new?

1- Level Expiry

Yes, you read it right! The long-awaited feature has finally arrived. 

One of the greatest things about the levels program is that you get to reward your most loyal customers with benefits designed just for them. With the new level expiry system, you will be able to encourage every player to keep leveling up, or at least maintain the level they have reached by staying active and earning enough scores to keep them on that level and utilize its benefits.

Here are the 3 options you can choose from:

  • Lifetime: This one is not new. There is no level expiry. This means that once a player levels up, they will stay on that level forever.
  • 6 months expiry: Every player will enjoy jumping to a higher level and benefit from its rewards for a period of 6 months. After the 6 months have passed, Gameball will reassess the players’ activity during those last 6 months and check if they’re eligible to stay on that level or levels them down.
  • 12 months expiry: Same as with the 6 months expiry system, only the players will maintain their level for a whole year. Once the year has passed, Gameball will check and reassess their activity during that year and relocate them to the level they should be on.

2- Dashboard Filters Revamped


We understand the struggle when it comes to filtering data. You’re looking for one particular piece of information and the next thing you know you’re browsing a completely different set of data and you’re getting nowhere. 

We have eased the process of filtering players and challenges and applying actions such as adding or deducting points, manually adding achievements, extracting a set of data, etc. You can now easily apply filters then execute the needed action on the selected group of data.

Try applying the filters yourself by visiting the players’ section.

3- Points Expiry on The Widget


Seeing how points expiry has been very crucial to most loyalty programs, we had to make sure that players are able to track when and how many points are about to expire. When a bulk of points has at most 60 days to expire, it will show on the outer layout of the widget, right under their total points.

If there are multiple bulk points about to expire, the widget will show the points that will expire the soonest.

Here is how you can make the point expiry visible.

4- Widget Dark Mode


We are either that person or we know someone who’s obsessed with the dark mode. Almost every app on their phone is set to dark mode if that option exists. Well, Gameball couldn’t help but make that an option too!  

Now, through simple clicks, you can switch the widget mode from light to dark. When you set your widget to dark mode, not only everything about the widget will switch to dark, but also popups, messages, and notifications will show in dark mode.

Players, however, will not be in control of changing to either modes, only the user is solely the captain of the “widget ship” and only they can switch between modes.

5- A New and Enhanced Engagement Emails


A new version of the engagment reports are available now! You can recieve an email every week or month from Gameball that has a brief information about your loyalty progress during that time. If you find this email unuseful, or you simply want to receive it less frequently, we have got that covered for you!

You can now change the email frequency according to the preference of every account holder, here are your options:

  • Change frequency
    • Weekly
    • Monthly
  • Unsubscribe from the email

6- Adding Email Customization in Challenge Creation


If you think that now you are able to customize an email for every challenge you create so that players can receive an email when they have achieved this challenge, then you’re absolutely right! 

You were already able to customize in-app notifications designed specifically for each challenge you create. Now, you can do the same thing with emails. While creating the challenge, you can create a special email that will be sent when a player achieves this specific challenge.

Here are few cases where you can efficiently use this feature:

  • Send loyalty program enrollment email along with the signup challenge.
  • Send customized celebration emails upon birthday or anniversary challenges.
  • Send a “Thank you for sharing” email upon social media challenge.

7- Merging Notifications and Emails


If you opened the dashboard and were unable to find the emails at their usual place, don’t worry! Emails were only relocated to the notification section. We figured since both features have similar settings and serve similar purposes, why not merge them in the same section. This way there is less hassle creating either, and less traffic on the left bar of the dashboard.

All you will need to do is click on the notification button, then choose between two tabs:

  • In-app
  • Email

    Level expiry is genius, forcing customers to stay engaged in order to keep their benefits, also allows us as a store to increase the level rewards.
    Merging all notifications in one place is just another great example of the awesome design and accessibility philosophy of your team 🙂

    Also It would be awesome to see an Email notification for when points are added or deducted manually, so for example, if we add X points to a customer, he would receive an email saying “You have received X points” and the reason could be stated in the email body 🙂 , It would be great as we very often use gameball as a method of refunding customers with in-store points, and this way we could automate the clients receiving an email when the points are added to their account
